About the work
What attracts children? Things children are drawn to are often things others resist.
The Power of Object digital performance entitled “Children, the Cherry” was created in 2012 during the time of intense national political debate in America to address the ongoing debate of Gun Violence and school shootings consuming the lives of American children. The digital performance embodies hope, elegance of life, youthfulness, and simplicity in form.
Olaniyi’s digital artful performances were created from the period of 2007-current to address national and world powers and issues relative to the betterment of humanity. The works serve as a tool for social change and human progress. During this time period, Olaniyi devoted his performances as an instrument of change, a powerful artful force of goodness in the world.
Derived from the philosophy “Life is a Performance,” David Olaniyi creates and performs objects in his daily life, hence emphasizing the “Power of Objects” relative to space and time. Each object embodies a memory, a moment, capturing time. Each print is signed, numbered, and dated.
