We are building a unique 10-acre sculpture park
Bayo Park & Galleries is a unique sculpture park currently under construction. It is a living work of contemporary art sprawled in between the cornfields of Iowa, USA. The entire 10 acres is a large-scale sculpture birthing collectible object art in various mediums criss-crossing through sectors of the arts from fine arts to performance.
Life on a Sculpture Park
Since moving to Batavia in 2007, we (Olabayo and Reena Olaniyi) have devoted much of our art practice to the design/development of our 10-acre sculpture park in rural Iowa, an ongoing collaborative project. Current endeavors include hand-built galleries, outdoor performance arenas, and large-scale sculptures created from local materials. The park features carved grounds and artful gardens. It is an artistic landmark, a lifelong vision for our community/state to inspire our children, others, and the future of our global community.
We share a dedicated vision to build unique and interactive sculptures on our 10 acre park and to house our various large-scale art forms. The park is designed to entertain the creative intelligences of our community, local, state, national and world as the park illustrates the embodiment of our belief in the power of art and the imperative role of artists/art in society.
Bayo Park & Galleries is growing to become an artistic landmark. The park includes an interactive viewing space designed to perform an art object and the community audience as an object alike annually, interweaving objects, ideas, and people – all which create a thriving art environment for our state, nation, and world.
We live artfully on our 10 acre sculpture park. The entire ten acres is a living, breathing work of art. From large scale sculptures under construction to digital art inspired by our natural setting – art is alive!
Art and doing art relative to living art can be a bit challenging yet rewarding. In 2007 we shopped for a property that represented the idea of "Iowa" being a farm state, where two artists of immense talent could dwell. We have chosen to overlook the idea that a state is a "flyover," especially where artistic culture as a grove of artfulness can create a wave of audience of art lovers and tourists to change the dynamics of a state known for five major things - politics, ethanol, livestock, corn, and soy. Now we are adding art on a selective 10 acre virgin-land that we have hand-cleared and sculpted over the last 16 years. The images above are sculptural sites for galleries and platforms currently under construction for upcoming art shows. Over the past few years we have celebrated the growth of this park with our local community and art enthusiasts during our annual art event. Now we are moving into the second phase of our presence here where unique and modern art, design, and architecture relative to the idea that "Life is a Performance" will spun like an oyster or morel mushroom (which grow abundantly on our land.) In our third phase, we will invite other artists of genuine creativity of performative thought to join us in our art annual artistic dialogue and endeavors for the greater good of all - humanity.
